As part of PCDN’s ongoing interview series with leading practitioner, we were pleased to interview Mr. Ilco van der Linde, founder of MasterPeace, a new innovative grass roots movement in which everyone can support peace building with his/her own talents — online and offline. We want to mobilize millions of people – amongst the international civil society – to do work for the sake of peace in the broadest sense, including (social) sustainability, the reduction of (armed) conflicts (on both private and global levels) and of (nuclear) weaponry and international collaboration. MasterPeace is currently active in 20 countries, with the aim to be active in 50 countries by 2014.

Organizing campaigns to mobilize civil society for social causes has always been the passion of Ilco van der Linde (1963). At sixteen he established Liberationpop, the first of the 14 Liberation Festivals in the Netherlands to celebrate the end of the 2nd World War, actually the largest annual themed youth event in Europe with 1 million people attending.
He continued this in his company, Music Trends Events, a pioneer in experience marketing.
In 2002 he co-founded dance4life, which is now involving hundreds of thousands ‘agents of change’ in 30 countries with a contemporary approach to involving youngsters in pushing back HIV & Aids.
